Day 4 - the BIG day!

A lot of people asked me in the build up to Burghley if I was nervous to tackle the XC... I replied not really, and that there wasn't a horse I'd rather be sat on than Dynasty to tackle the course on. And still now it's all over, I say I wasn't really nervous, until I was counted down, left the start box and jumped fence 1...normally, even at 3*, fence one is small, often even shared with the 1*, but at Burghley that wasn't the case and it really set the feel for the rest of the course. Dynasty was fantastic, feeling a little tired at the top of each hill (there were many!) but picking up again, and he really did jump right till the end. We had a bit of a hairy moment at the house on the run down into the Trout Hatchery but aside from that it was a pretty smooth round for a pair of first timers. I think the most nervous I felt was on the way back down from the Cottesmore Leap - we'd jumped most of the tough combinations by this point and now it was really just about keeping it together and not falling off!!

I think the most nervous parent award would definitely go to my Mum...she took more Rescue Remedy than I think humanly possible!
