A Busy, But Successful Weekend: Floors, Aston and Aston again!

Floors has been one of my favourite events to go to since the first time I competed there, so despite the long drive, about 9 hours door-to-door, I was determined to have a string of horses to take.

Day 1 was dressage day and I think we got the 2* test fairly nailed - the star of the day was Top Biats who was in 2nd overnight on 24.3 (just 0.5 off the lead!), closely followed by Dynasty who was in 5th on 26, with a few more horses to go the next morning. The two 7yos, Guus DHI and Balius 7, did green tests in the 1* but about on par for their level. The courses and the ground looked fantastic so I was very much looking forward to the jumping.

Day 2 saw the completion of the international classes. We continued our good run of form from the dressage the day before, with both Top Biats and Dynasty jumping double clears inside the time in the 2* finishing on their dressage scores for 2nd and 5th respectively. Balius 7 was the star in the 1*, jumping double clear in the time to finish on his dressage score, whilst Guus DHI just rolled a pole and was clear XC - it was the first time for both horses at this level, so I was very pleased with their result.

Yaz and I then tackled the 9 hour drive home, arriving home at 3.30am, before leaving for Aston Le Walls at 7am...it was safe to say we both felt somewhat like zombies!

We did, however, have another fantastic days eventing - 6yo Quick Guy was making the step up and doing his first Novice. He did a 30.5 dressage, just rolled one pole and then flew round the XC clear with a handful of time, picking up 8th place. I also had Tullyoran Diamond, owned by Charlotte Smailes, in the BE100. She jumped a confident double clear for her first run with me.

Now to recover from a busy weekend before Mount Ballan on Tuesday!
