Yaz and I managed to get a few days away from the yard visiting some friends in Norway. It was safe to say I had a slightly different horse to ride...however I learnt to do tolt on an Icelandic pony, something new to me!
We also had our first competition of the year, a trip just down the road to Sparsholt College for some combined training - Quick Guy did a great test being less than 1% behind the leader and then jumped very well just being a little keen for his first outing. I also had Rachael Ward’s Opposition Illumination, doing his first ever competition. He did a sweet test and learn a huge amount in the jumping phase.
Just over a week later it was then on to Eventers' Show Jumping at West Wilts with 5 horses - Rachael Ward’s Opposition Illumination is improving every time out and jumped two nice rounds. Quick Guy jumped well in the 90 and 100. Guus DHI had his first outing of the year jumping the 100 and 1.10, definitely feeling much stronger after his holiday. Top Biats had his first show in a few seasons, and jumped a great round in the 1.10 and Dynasty showed the young ones how to do it with a clear in the 1.20! Lots of rosettes to come home with! It was a super busy day with 2 lorries and 7 horses between Yaz and I so a big thank you to Emma, our working pupil for all her help.
